No Heating in the Office

Staff kicking off in my office this morning over no heating apparently the heating system has been broke for a couple of months but nothing done about it. I'm throwing two walks off everyday and I am absolutely freezing to death stood there and it was very cold here this morning. Someone was saying that there is a ruling in the factory laws about the temperature we should be working in can anyone clarify this? Looks like I will have to revert back to bloomers tomorrow and few rolls of foil around me.

Yes, extra layers of warm clothing should help, and Damart is very popular judging by all their bumph I'm always delivering.
Keep moving too, that's what we do with just one small heater in the office.

Get a thermometer from the pound shop.

it is 16 degrees the minimum working temperture, 13 if the work is physical etc .
this is covered under The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
Regulation 7 of these Regulations deals specifically with the temperature in indoor workplaces and states that:

During working hours, the temperature in all workplaces inside buildings shall be reasonable.

the heating needs to be fixed and when the heating went in my office i got the drinks machine put on free vend untill the local hire company opened and we got hot air blowers in. the expense of that got the heating fixed double quick, that i can assure you on

you can refuse to do any work, without any action being taken against you, if you believe that your working conditions infringe your rights. you need to get your rep, or you yourself to contact branch and get the area safety rep down, thats what he is their for to take on management for you and enforce your statutory rights

At 40p for a cup of "rosie lee not many can afford it in our place. Hence we have 4 private kettles going.

Your rads should have thermo valves which you can turn down or off. I have to adjust ours throughout the year to try and balance the temp depending on the weather.

You need to try my office mate its freezing an I have a fleece and trousers on what more do you want me to wear? BTW does RM supply jumpers? I think not.

There are no radiators, just big hot air machines on the ceiling. Working under one of those is murder!

And there's no chance of turning the heating down, some people would just complain.
