Infectious householders!!

Post by banner18 »

The other day, I had a special for someone and when they came to the door they looked like death. As I handed the PDA to them I thought, could I reasonably refuse to partake? Once they touch the PDA it will be a source for infection for the rest of the day, possibly infecting me and other people on the round. This isn't jest, I have been ill a number of times following incidents such as this.

Report it as an incident on duty when you go sick.

Do you clean each coin you take in change, rub the gate catch each time you open a gate, ever wonder if the other users of the PDA has a communicable disease? Get real, the next breath you take has probably been in somebody else lungs and who knows what disease they have. However if you're that concernec wear rubber gloves and a face mask.

Hang on LL you've got me worried there! In reality of course, having been in many water facilities, you have no idea how many processes that water goes through before it goes to the tap - it's only a bucket in a puddle in the third world.

That is not the same, as I said in the post the person was very ill, and looked it. There are obvious things we put up with in every day life and there is no way round it, but I don't go round chancing fate by touching things that I know very ill people have touched. You are passing an item to someone who it is known is very ill and likely infectious, then carrying said item around with you for the rest of the day, so a bit of hand gel isn't going to work.

They looked ill. Doesn't mean they were.
Their infectiousness is not proved either.
If you don't know what made them look like death, you don't know if it is a communicable disease do you?

Just take more vitamin C and chill.
Stressing about other people's possible state of health will make you ill.

When I worked somewhere else I visited an elderly customer who looked like he was about to peg out on the doorstep, I actually was concerned and asked him if he was OK - not are you going to give me a disease - anyway he said he was but the Dr had advised him to give up smoking 6 weeks before and he'd never felt so bad in his life and he did look poorly.

The thread reminds me of people in the fifties who didn't want to accept change from black bus drivers in case it made them turn black.

well, seen as they said "I'm full of the worst flu ever" as they dragged themselves to the door, it was patently obvious. The last comment was so ridiculous about bus drivers it must be a joke lol
