Does anyone know what royal mail policy is on leaving HCT's unattended is? I have 2 sets of flats on my walk where my HCT can be unattended for 30 minutes, is this allowed?

Thing is that if you ask the DOM how to get around the problem of an unattended trolley or HCT they just ignore you until anything goes missing .
Either way it will still be your fault.
Mention it at WTL and ask the DOM what happens if something gets stolen. At least there will be witnesses whilst you ask him and make a note of it or record it on your mobile .

Depending on the area (it has to be risk assessed) the most you can leave it unattended for is 10 mins. If its longer than 10 mins then HCT can be left but you have to take everything out the HCT so its empty. Must be somewhere on here as i have seen it and all our HCT routes have copies of the document.

you could have 5 bags worth in there, you cant carry that amount with you around the flats

Well you dont leave it for more than 10 mins then.

Find out if your walk is a low, medium or high risk area, which allows 10/5/2 minutes respectively of a HCT being locked up to an immoveable object before it must be empty of all mail or back in sight. When I deliver to flat blocks in a high risk area, I break off from delivering to get the HCT back in sight before 2 minutes is up, then resume delivering. It takes longer, even more so if the flats have numerous attendence calls, but at the end of the day you are covering your own back.

And if it adds significant time to your daily delivery because you have to keep going back to your HCT. Tell your DOM and tell him you're not working overtime for it.
