Let's talk waterproof gloves.

I post in near Glasgow and it's been the wettest year I can remember. It's starting to get cold as well.

I've noticed that windows cleaners wear waterproof gloves. Does anyone have any recommendations of a pair of gloves that:-

1. Are fairly tough.
2. Water proof.
3. Breathable.
4. Grippy bits.

I bought a pair 4 years ago from a sports shop, they are meant for cyclists but they are perfect for the job and have everything on your list, they wernt cheap about £30 if I remember but well worth it, still going strong after a couple of the worst winters in years.

Points 2 and 3 contradict each other.You never get a glove that is 100 % water proof and breathable.If the glove is waterproof and air tight, sweat will build up inside your glove.I've tried numerous variations of gloves.Wool,soft shell,cycling and rubber/latex gloves.Cycling,fingerless wool or softshell gloves are the best.The trick is to just except that your going to get wet.Its best to use use several pairs, so your putting new ones on every 45 mins.You can get cycling gloves for £1 in the pound shops.

You should also try keeping your core warm.That means, wearing top and bottom base layers.If your core is warm then warm blood can flow to your fingers.Took me years to work this out.wish I knew this fact years ago.

They are fishermans gloves.

Neoprene so waterproof.
grippy bits on the palm and finger tips
the tops of the thumb and forefinger on both hands (of the gloves - not your hands) can be removed

I find that skin is both waterproof and flexible - you can even wear it in the bath - so why would you need waterproof gloves?

I picked up a pair of Sealskinzs in Glasgow today. £33 but they do look like a quality item. Hopefully they will do the trick.
