Hi,
I have been invited to an interview next Monday for a postman with occasional driving in the Musselburgh DO, near Edinburgh. I have a few questions.

1. What is the interview like? This is my first job so I don't have a huge amount of experience. Does anybody have any example questions that they may ask me?
2. It is a 25 hour contract, 5 hours a day. Does this mean that my walk would all be prepared for me or will I have to sort anything?
3. Is park and loop now standard or are there other methods that I might be put on?

I will probably have more questions but that's all I can think of for now!

Don't worry it is a very basic interview. Just appear self-motivated and appear to have an understanding of customer service.

1.Probably quite amateurish.just make sure you say you are fit and capable of doing the job and like walking.
2.Techically yes,although depending on staffing levels at the office you may need to prepare some/all of the walk.just make sure you get paid for the hours you work

I had an interview a few months back, fairly informal. I was asked questions like;
Give me an example of when you have worked as part of a team?
Give me an example of how you deal with repetitive tasks?
In the examples you give mention that you kept your line manager updated, and ran past them any ideas decisions etc.
Diversity came up, look at the RM policies etc.
Turn up on time, smart with all necessary paperwork required. If a question fazes you ask if you can come back to it later. There's nothing too difficult, good luck.

I remember they used to give you the list of questions that would be asked before you went for the interview, but that was back in the day when you were already working for them before you got to the interview stage so it was just a formality.

say you are prepared to ask for help if you are struggling with a task.
They asked me when had someone entrusted me with something valuable.
they will ask if you have any holidays booked, they will honour them - i would suggest you say that you have booked christmas week off - i did - they never asked for evidence

Mine was - check documents, fill in personal details, no questions, accepted. Sorted

when they ask have you been trusted with something valuable ..the answer could be ,i looked after a relatives house while they were away ..fed the cat turned on the lights at night etc.

Thank you everyone for the advice so far. I had a look at the job description again and I had a question about the pay. I will get £8.37 per hour, but I also get a Delivery Functional Supplemement of £21.62 pro rata. What is this supplement for and how often do I get it?

It's a delivery supplement and it is paid weekly,let's just leave it at that.
