Triple Prep...

word for today is Triple Prep......Dom informed us this morning that on certain days from next week ie monday tuesday (lighter days) the guys that prep will have three frames to prep!!!!!! According to the DOM our union rep agreed to it......but he is on long term sick so he dont give a ****

we struggle at the minute goodness knows what this will do.....

We do this regularly, it's not uncommon for 1 person to do 4 (with a bit of help). It's only the ones who don't claim overtime for going over their time who do it though - I wonder why

be honest, do you come in early? do you take a break? do you use your trolly if you have had a methods revision?

So do these preppers not go out and deliver? Are they just indoor people? Or is this done by delivery staff as a sort of inside absorption?

I would love to prep 5 or 6 walks a day because the more indoor work you do the later you get out the less your on the street so cut off with a nice big bag or two for your DOM then tell hie "see you in the morning boss and the keys and codes for the flats are on the frame" simple!

It all depends on the number of full time staff you have in your office and the traffic.
On lighter days, we have walks with 500-600 items. It doesn't take forever to prep them.Even less time with walk sequenced mail.
At the same time the introduction of increasing amunts of mech letters means we don't have the work on IPS we used to have.
Triple prep doesn't mean anyone is out late, it just means there is less overtime available for p/t staff.
If we didn't have triple prep we wouldn't be able to sustain the number of f/t posts we have.

I don't get asked because I would cost them too much in overtime when I go over haha. The regular chap who does 4 does come a lot earlier than he should but I don't know whether he has breaks and so on. The norm is to do a couple as "indoor lapsing".

I've noticed that since the walk sequencing machines have gone in, we have more IPS due to more rejects from the machines!

I asked about the amount of stuff coming in on IPS and was told that a lot of it was in fact intended to be machine sequenced but sent down for manual sorting because the MC can't sort it all in time for dispatch.
