Hi,having moved to a new office i have a question about using the trolley.I have been trained that i take the HCT trolley out full at the beginning of my round then chain it to a lampost,or whatever then take out what i need for a loop and put it in my pouch then of i go,return back to the trolley then move on to my next loop.The other guys in the office...well there is only 2 seem to take the trolley around with them...am i doing it wrong?The pouch i take is not heavy as i make sure my loops are right for me.Also its the first time i have used a bike in royal mail,any guildlines on using that...where i deliver they leave mail in the front basket while they deliver their pouch.Are they supposed to leave mail unattended?

I'll put it this way,if you leave an HCT for more than 10 mins in a designated low risk area you have to take ALL the mail with you and chain the EMPTY HCT to an immovable object,in a medium risk area it's 5 minutes,in a high risk area....2 minutes.
You should NEVER leave specials in an unattended HCT.
Deliberate disregard of this security procedure can lead to dismissal.
Do you think you are following that procedure?
In the case of a bike...
The delivery pouch may only be left on the front carrier when directly outside of a specific delivery point. At all other times the pouch must be removed and kept on the person. No SD items are to be left on an unattended cycle. The cycle must be chained to an immovable object and left for a maximum of 5 minutes

Cheers...first time i've seen it and not seen any safety instructions etc and not signed nothing to state i know how to use any of the equipement!!!!Some companies love leaving themselves wide open for accident claims!!!!

I don't understand these 5 to 10minute rules where there's many offices using trolleys as a bag drop. On the other hand there's been a lot of trolleys slashed recently so that would change that

Youve got the information here to do the job properly and as RM want you too. Why anyone would cut corners to get back earlier but risk losing their job if it did get stolen/damaged etc is beyond me. If you followed exactly how RM want you to do the job you will be doing less delivering than the idiot who cuts corners to just get back asap and you wont give RM the chance to sack you as your following their guidelines. Its a win win situation.
