A colleague of mine always gets moved off his signed for floating duty by guys who come in on there day off. Some of them actually brag about it . Can he come in on his day off and work it on one of the duties who kicked him off his job,then that person gets moved to whatever job needs covering...? That would be fair but it's the rm . I cannot see why the y cdnt do this .?

They could do this.
In the same way they could send the most senior man to another office instead of the newbie.
But they don't - and we wouldn't like it if they did.

If people are continually working their day off, there must be an ongoing problem with the staffing level which needs to be addressed.

The guys coming in on there day off should be covering whatevers on overtime, your mate should not be moved if thats his duty for the day without agreeing to it. Take this up with your union rep

Don't bother wasting your time. This used to be the case but now they can put you wherever they want. This is the 'flexibility' we agreed to. Although it doesn't say much for the people who are happy to see the floater kicked of their duty so they can do their own duty on their day-off. And if they're bragging about it then they're just w*****s.

Fairness and equal treatment could be a good way to tackle this sort of abuse. However, we know how management will drag their heels as its easier to get overtime covered by day offs on their own duty, and the ethos of "anything for an easy life" beyond OPG level.
