Royal Mail ditching the IWT ??????

it has been rumoured that royal mail are ditching the concept of the IWT, and replace it with the upper decile nonsense.

the upper decile is that wondrous place ZANADU, or SHANGRI-LA that can never be reached

i am talking of performance targets being raised etc

Royal Mail are going to relaunch the upper decile in a big way and want to increase producitivity further using this measure.

I would of thought the IWT would be needed as part of this.....wouldn't it?

Office EPs are all over 100 .......... apparently.

All of RM's measuring systems are bollocks.
It would be just as relevant to grade offices on the number of single employees over 40 still living with their mum divided by the number of PDA's without a stylus.
If we're going to make s**t up let's make it more interesting.

Believe it or not there was a point in time, just after MIST standardisation, when Mail Centre measurement systems were 1. Accurate and 2.Meaningful.

The problem was was the systems (primarily PVs) were not maintained and the nobody could decide whether to use EP (Effective Performance), BPI (Best Practise Indicator) or OP (Overall Performance) as the primary measure. Added to which the spreadsheets used to maintain these systems were overly complicated and time consuming to maintain/populate.

Mail Centre Managers soon realised that the control systems could be manipluated (by overstating unmeasured hours) which in their minds earned them additional Brownie Points .... some things never change, so rather than address the issues we are where we are ... with complete bollocks !!

if your offering bonuses to managers/walk planners to cut walks of course the measuring tools on walks and other stuff wont be accurate.
