Part timer

I have been told that when I arrive at 8am that my round (apart from the last trays which arrive at about 7.45) should be thrown off. The other day I arrive to be told by the chap that should have thrown it all off that he "hadn't had time" so there was a lot of stuff I had to throw off. He then bags up and pisses off.

Am I being mugged?

It's normal practice - if you work to your time, each time it happens, you'll magically come into the office with a fully thrown in frame soon enough. The manager just needs to be encouraged a little.

I would not blame the postie chucking it in too quickly. You may find the line managers were short on IPS and moved him.

Happened to me so many times in the old way of working, since P&L the guy throwing the round out is my P&L partner so it doesn't happen now obviously. There are a few absorbed walks though that get prepped by others and I still think it happens to them. So annoying!

There is an unfortunate element of truth in what he says, though. In our office, it is common practice for certain full-timers to shirk the work that is expected of them. They wander away from prep at about 8.20am, finish prepping their own walk, then bag up and go. They're usually gone before the part-timers even arrive (the part-timers that start on time, that is). Obviously this applies to a minority, but it is irritating that management continue to let them get away with it. Especially when, in some cases, they are finishing well before noon - on busy days.

It depends on too many questions to give a straight,across the board answer but at the end of the day you're only expected to work your hours and if they have you prepping and lapsing all over the place and it's going to leave you short on delivery....cut off.

I am a 25 hour man and I have a normal everyday lapsing ( apart from two week xmas pressure ) and now have an extra summer lapsing added on.

falls on deaf ears if I say I will struggle ( although now mail ( not packets though ) has dropped off its doable )

the main problem we all have is DIM's dont all sing from the same hymm book, different DIM's seem to have different rules and there does not seem to be a regulated DIM rulebook RM wide.

perhaps Moya could sort this out and make sure we all work to the same rules across the whole of RM.
