Seeing more and more of these signs outside peoples homes nowadays....so as regards d2d's(which the public class as JUNK MAIL..)should we still deliver d2d's through these peoples letterboxes regardless ..many get extremely angry when i do this ..often coming out of their homes swearing and tearing up the leaflets i have just delivered...

It's not up to us posties to decide what is or isn't junk, it's as simple as that.

No point moaning about d2d's in the hope they go away. RM see them as a growth market. If anything, they will be looking to increase them!

Unless an address has the official opt-out, get them delivered. There is a big clampdown going on with regard to the return of 'excess' d2d's. If they find out that you have chosen not to deliver d2d's to an address because they have some sign up, you can guarantee that you will be done for willful delay or suchlike.

Then tell the punter to get in contact with customer services. If your lino's are not updating the opt-outs, they will get their arse kicked.

I consider telling such customers about the opt-out that they can send away....would I be I on dangerous ground doing this? I seem to remember a postie getting suspended for this a few years ago.

Because you should be getting a Special instruction notice telling you so. I keep mine along with my redirections. When I go through my redirections, I get to the special instructions that tell me who has an opt-out. You then remove the d2d, if you are delivering that addresses d2d that day.

I seriously doubt that walks would have more than a couple per delivery so please dont come away with some bullshit about not being able to remember when out on the street. If your memory is so lax that you would have difficulty remembering a couple of houses. Right a little note on a 739 telling you 'no d2d for #22' and put it into no#22's slot in the frame.

I got this same scenario once, and after an argument and me managing to calm the guy down from his red in the face, shouting and swearing previous state, I promised to check with the managers.

It turned out the guy wasn't even on the computer as an opt out. He apologised to me the next day so no harm done.

Sometimes it's fun to argue with customers when it's been a long day and you just can't be bothered any more.
