Our office has been told that from Monday, we all need to come in at our official contract hours, which has kicked up a fuss since we all come in early.
As I have been part time my contracted start time is 10am, but I am always in between 8am and 8.30am.
Is this normal practise at other offices or is my office just being ridiculous as any special deliveries I have for the 2nd half of my route will be lucky if they have them before 1pm.
It wouldnt benefit anyone to be honest as we would all rather start earlier and im 99.9% certain that the customers would rather have their mail earlier than the afternoon.

we can come in w/e time we want and our hours start from when we come in. Nothing has been said about it.
However where do you find your official start times? Is it in your contract ? I Know from when I applied but how would the manager enforce a specific time what do they use?

That is what out office has been like since I started and all of a sudden we got told today that from Monday it is changing.

so u come in up to 1 an 1/2 hours early,,,,and obviously they pay you for that ?
ask your manager how you are gunna get the regs to the delivery by 1pm,,,,he`ll prob tell you to go there 1st
oh and theyll also tell u these people are not the customers,,,,,customers are the people who buy the stamps,,who post the packets.
they wont give a stuff about the delivery bein in the morning or nearer tea time

As for your start time, were you claiming overtime for your 0800-0830 start until 1000 each day, or were you working on the presumption that an 0800 start would mean finishing 2 hours earlier, or were you playing the charity volunteer working for upto 2 hours free everyday?

I was using 0800 as my start time and working within my 4.5 hours.

Work your hours. Prioritise specials even if it takes longer and cut off what you do not have time to deliver..... is that so complicated???? 
If that's what your managers want then do it. Don't bother discussing it with them or do thier job for them, give them exactly what they ask for!

It's people coming in early and clearing off early that F**cked up the revision in our office, the planner saw it happening and loaded the walks to compensate.
No one from a lino up takes any notice of you coming early, as far as they are concerned you are working for nothing.
