Before p&l was introduced into our office we used to have a canteen, we used to get the odd flyer coming round telling us to use the canteen or lose it, our union reps would often say pretty much the same thing, but being a office that was full of speed merchants we would often say "yea yea" because we had all heard it all before then shoot out the door without having a meal relief.The canteen was taken away before we could blink,since we have gone over to p&l we now have our meals breaks before we go out, but we now have no where for hot food in the cold winter months, but the worst thing of all is the fact that two really nice ladies who had worked in the canteen for more than 13 years lost their jobs BECAUSE OF OUR SELFISHNESS.dont let it happen to your office.

They're trying to use the reverse in our office, there is no canteen therefore you can't ask people to work their hours. Madness.

We once had some big wig down when we moved into our new office and the bone of contention was that although we had a kitchen we had no canteen facilities because as we were told there was insufficient demand. I queried the fact that although offices who had canteens had subsidsed meals why did we have to pay full price for the coffee machines and the vending machines - and in fact inflated prices. I was told that we wouldn't like the food from the canteen.............................
