Well I believe they got 1500 quid...............we got 100 pro rata. Now if I was a cynical old soul and the colleague share was 1400 add to that 100 and you get 1500.................No surely not...............have we really financed the managers bonus with our money the shame of it.

You have to pay national insurance contributions as well as 20% income tax

I tend to concern my self with one person's wages and bonus and that's my own. Everywhere you look people are paid more than they are worth or less than they are worth and to a large degree it's all supply and demand. Are the bankers still worth their huge bonuses when many of their actions border on the criminal, and they have been bailed out by a country whose small businesses they still will not lend to?. Is a nurse worth so much less than a footballer? ... I could go on ... and on and on.

The MBS (Manager's Bonus) has been in operation for a number of years and is paid against measurable targets so I suppose it's for once a good job by the CMA ... who have failed their members far more than CWU. When privatisation comes managers' salaries and OPGs will no doubt be reviewed and if I had to lay any money it would be that a lot of managers will be viewed as being overpaid compared with other organisations. More to the point ... a lot of current managerial roles will become 'Team Leader', 'Supervisor' or 'Charge Hand' type positions that will be hourly paid and include an element of manual work.

I agree with you ,when we are privatised a lot of managers will be surplus to requirements and the others will be supervising for a couple of hours and then out on a delivery for the rest of their shift

i asked our lms doms acting lms about 7/8 of them and not one of them had the balls to tell us what they recieved , but they know how much every postie got in their replaced coll share dividend.
surely there must be accountability for mgmt bonus payments under freedom of information
it is the public purse these bonuses come from
oh and everyone of then had a smug smile and laughed at us when asked

Royal Mail Group holds information relevant to your request. However, this information
covers the financial year rather than the calendar year. Information has therefore been
provided for the 2010-11 financial year, the most recent for which figures are available
and which runs until March 2011.

Royal Mail Group already publishes a report on Directors’ remuneration in our Annual
Report and Accounts. The most recent report can be found on our website at:

The relevant information is on page 46 of the 2010-11 Annual Report. It is important to
note that bonus payments are significantly below the on-target levels in light of the
Group’s performance amid very challenging market conditions.

Information is also held concerning the bonus payments made to managers within Royal
Mail Group. For the financial year 2010-11, 14,923 managers were paid a total of
£24,986,626 performance-related bonuses. This figure should be seen against Royal Mail
Group’s £5,242 million pay and pension costs in the 2010-11 financial year and it
amounts to 0.5% of this overall total. The average bonus paid to managers was £1,674 in
the 2010-11 financial year. Royal Mail Group’s approach to management remuneration is
to avoid any situation where managers are rewarded irrespective of performance. Instead,
bonuses have to be earned. In 2010-11, Group operating profit fell compared to the
previous year and as a result, across the management population, around two thirds of the
potential bonus payments available were not paid.
