are you allowed to go to the loo while at on delivery revis

Hi have a meeting this morning and we have been arguing with dom as regards to being able to go to the toilet
we will be using htc so is there some king of provision and also is it built into the route via geo route

the meeting is at 8am so would like an answer before i go in if possibl please

Time is not built in via georoute for you to have a welfare break, but welfare stops MUST be identified on the delivery or even on another delivery for you to use. This will be made aware at your 1to1 interview regarding the new routes.

And if none are identified on the route or nearby then you are allowed to go back to the office to use the toilet there. If that means it occurs overtime then tough or it may even mean you cannot complete your delivery in time so will be leaving some. Sure they will soon find somewhere for you if thats the case!!!!

Unfortunately, returning to the office may be the only way on some routes. I work in a seaside town and only those deliveries in the town centre/seafront area are anywhere near public toilets. Some other routes have hotels/pubs where a postie can answer the call of nature, but most are purely domestic routes and unless the postie is on good terms with at least a couple of householders, then it's back to the office for them.

When I was on delivery, I had a choice of 2 public loos, both a 15 minute walk off route. Nothing worse than trying to get a LWT and 2 full pouches into a public toilet!

RM seem to think that since we now have vans there won't be a problem, but that only works for the driver. If the walker needs to go back to the office, then the driver has to take him, meaning both deliveries are affected.

I've no answers, but if you need to go, then you need to go. RM won't address the problem as it isn't likely to be a daily occurrence, that is, you won't need to have a pee everyday when you reach point B. The fact that you will probably need one at some time between point B and point F would be too complicated for them. Unless they were to build in a 15 minute welfare break midway through the delivery span, but the chances of that are remote.

Our dim seems to think we have to take it as part of our Meal relief when we are out on delivery in other words take a toilet break but it forms part of Meal relief and take the time off that, is this correct, he seems to be skirting round the issue even though a lot of folks were tyring to put there thoughts on the issue to him.

So if you take your full break then go out on a 4hr delivery you are not allowed to go to the toilet during that time? What an idiot!

What if your toilet break wil result in you having to leave your locked HCT unattended and out of sight for more than two minutes in a "high risk" area (or 5 mins in a "medium risk" or 10 minutes in a "low risk")?

Emptying the HCT of all mail simply was not practical the one time I faced this dilemma (plus I had not had the official SSOW training regarding the security measures), so all I did was take the specials with me in a drop bag and tried to get back to the HCT that was locked outside ASAP.
