I just had one more question that plays on my mind a bit, about complaints, do you ever get told when a customer has complained about you, or do they just let them build up, and up, until they decide to let you go if you get to many against you? Is there any way of finding out if complaints have been made against me?

You'd know, they'd let you know as and when they occurred.

I've just had my 12 month contract renewed (for 3 months) the DOM said they only get to know a week in advance of renewals and non renewals. My guess would be that it is too early to tell at the moment but I cant see yours not just being rolled on again. As for complaints you will get to know about them before the ink is dry on the coffe cup coaster they have been written on.

Been at RM 2 and a half years now (almost!) and got another 3 month extension in the post yesterday which will take me up to our revision date.

Congratulations folks. Some here just don't know what is happening to new part-time/rolling-contract new members of staff.

I suppose it is easy to be subsumed in one's own little world... Its not easy getting a job (semi-skilled/unskilled) that pays reasonably and has some employment laws protection these days.

Although I understand its the norm to be on a 3month contract with RM these days I dont like the insecurity of it which is why Im still jobsearch and seeking other opportunities whilst working as a posty. Im on a 24hour-3month contract and whilst I enjoy the job and the overtime on offer can, if I choose to it, bump my hours upto basically a full working week I'd be much happier in "full-time" employement even if it was less well paid. It's not the wage necessarily thats an issue with me its the lack of security with a young family and not knowing where I stand week on week.

talking to people in the office I work in (im a new starter, 3weeks in) this seems to be the norm there so I guess I'd be at the end of a loooong line if a perm position did come up one day. So while I do enjoy the job I can only see it hopefully being a short term fix

Have you had a revision in your office yet?
If not, try and find out when it is likely to be.
This will either be the end of your RM career or it should be the start of your employment on a permanent contract- probably still part time but at least permanent.

I'm hoping mine is'nt renewed, can't stand the job, noone gives a fcuk when your trying to through your round in at 09:00 there off job and knock.
