Hi is there anything official in the royal mail mainly to do with postmen/women that makes you have a minimun 11 hours off after your duty finish BEFORE you can then start the next day........
sorry if im not asking that right,,,example,,,, if i was to finish at 1900 hrs,,,,,and my next duty would have to start 11 hours after that ie 6am
and an agreement says i could not start before 6am
so if i worked overtime after my duty,,,i would have to ensure that after the over time i would have to have a minimum of 11 hours off
like hgv driver have for driving laws
but this is purely aimed at post people.

That is right,that is why if you have a second job you are suppossed to have the 11 hour rest period.This is the working time directive by the EU

right,,,no problem with that.
but for over a year weve been allowed to work evenings on overtime at out mail centre,,,,really cos the mail centre is so short of bodies.
so a large group from offices over our region has been doing overtime there through the week from approx 5pm till 9pm or 10pm.....so we end up having 8 or 9 hrs off after the finish before the next working day.
earlier this week we have been told by our d.o.m that we must have 11 hrs off,,,,,,,,,,,so this stops us doing the overtime....i firmly believe he is enforcing this because he is turning the screw on us,,,,seems to be picking at everything we do,,,what were doing is always wrong!!!
so ok i dont have a problem with this 11hr rule,,,but seems to me they will come unstck because like i said a large group from the area is pulling em out the s++t each night doing the o/time at the mail centre

Work in mailcentres is declining.
Any additional hours should be used to protect the jobs in the mailcentre first.
I'm sure if they are struggling they will only need to make a phonecall....

I heard 10 hours. I dont know why its 10 as I think the EU directive says 11....
