just bought an item off Amazon which would normally get 739'd at my address as I'm out delivering other peoples mail. its a real pain getting back to my home delivery office before they shut on any day part from late night opening on Wednesdays.

Anyway I noticed that Amazon are now offering a locker facility where they deliver to a local shop where you can go pick it up... excellent so I've done that. Just been thinking is RM involved in this? i.e. do they delver to the shop rather than my address? I know that its a huge inconvenience using RM (see above) but at the end of the day I don't want to be doing some other postie out of a job.

Come to think of it do other postcodes do inter-office 'swaps' where if you have a parcel coming you get your DOM to ring up the other postcodes DOM and they put it on the miss-sort van for you?

RM will probably be just one of the companies that Amazon will use for it along with CityLink, HDNL, etc.

Where a DO still has a missort run, the missorts might get sent to the local MC

Just get it redelivered to the nearest po (50p) or ask the manager to ring and get it on the van for your depot, but to keep your nose clean just act like a customer or it could backfire on you!

I've not done it or seen anyone else do it but I'm sure if the DOM saw it there may be problems i.e. they'd ban it especially if anything went missing. I'll make enquiries in the morning.

Some one tried to have a special sent over on the miss-sort run just after Christmas and it caused problems i.e. the other DOM refused! NEVER been a problem in the past. As the old guard DOM's get EVR and these new management graduates take over things are changing for the worse.

i get all my packets online sent straight to the DO, rather than my address which is in another catchment

I get everything I order online sent to the DO I work in ( I work in a different postcode to where I work ) I even get to sign for my own special deliveries as well as having them added to my walk. no extra charges that way and no worrying about where they are :)

Yes, I've done the same The smaller the office the easier this is though.

Looking at what time some of the "8.50am" starters are in at my office, I think they are already ahead of you there.
