Confessions of a Postman -- the book

Post by rainmaker7 »

You can buy the book at: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1467931403

For seven long years Stan Dubonnet was in that parallel universe that was the Royal Mail Group before he managed to escape through a rip in the space time continuum and get back to the real world and he is here to tell the normal people of his fantastic tales of the misshapen misfit misanthrope Lords of misdelivery who put the While You Were Out card through you door While You Were In. While You Were Out – the book about life as a postman. Book cover attached.

Thanks, I made extensive use of your glossary of postie terms (some of which were news to me!) I'll give your post on glossary of terms a reference when I publish the book at end of the month -- unless you'd rather I didn't...

Sorry but I found this very difficult to read, too many abbreviations. Some areas were a bit far fetched
Five and a half hours work for £90. I have to say, I did have second thoughts about my resignation: I knew I wouldn’t be getting £24k a year to do 30 hours monkey work a week out there – in the real world.
Managed to get to the 7th paragraph and gave up.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Well it was a lament I guess and I did read it through from start to finish. The working practices are obviously south of Watford, which brings woe on the rest of us whilst the doggers get away with it. Is this the good representation much vaunted and can anyone tell me what the rep should have done?

Read and laugh. I'm sure that we can all relate to parts of it. Made me chuckle.

To be honest...no.
Not at anywhere near that level anyway.
The D.O. sounds like a shithole staffed by the worst kind of losers and managed by the worst kind of spineless tossers.
If it's fact and not fiction i wouldn't work there for any amount of London Weighting...it isn't worth it.

"They have to piss their self-loathing all over the rest of us because they think mean of themselves for having become a postman"

Well this stopped me in my tracks.

Was that really fiction because if it was it's pretty close to fact!

Here's a more comedic chapter -- it is a work of fiction. At least I think it is, I'm not entirely sure what I experienced at the Cronx D.O. and what I imagined.

Chapter 1:
I’d be paid to work until 14:20 but I’d have ‘job and knocked’ by 11:30. And this was one of the tougher duties
.

Chapter 6:
Today, for the first time in ten months, I was going to get home early.
:hmmmm
