New member, help is needed pls

Hi everyone, i am new here and i hope you guys would be kind enough to advice me. My situation is this, I am starting work with royal mail next week as a post woman with 3month contract, then i realize i am pregnant, i am 8weeks now, my question is what can i do in this situation? can i let my manager know straight away? can they sack me if they thinks i can't do the job cos of my pregnancy? I never work on mail delivering b4 but i have work as a mail sorter before, so i don't know if i will be able to cope with 3-4 walk a day with carrying heavy bag around. pls your advice will be greatly appreciated.Thanks

I think you need to do a internet search and find out at how many weeks you are legally bound to inform your employer. I think there was a site called “pregnancy alliance “ or something. I think it’s a fair few weeks more than 8 though.

As for delivering whilst pregnant ive witnessed managers sending out a 8 month pregnant women and its not pretty.

Yeah your most prob right it was a long time ago, seemed like 8 months as she was well pregs, my mistake

Wrong job at the wrong time

I'm sure if you don't continue, you'll just as easily get back into the job since you'll know what Qs they'll ask during an interview ...
but if they allow you to continue then i'm sure you won't get physically stressed over the weight since there are always trolleys etc ... Now with the Park and loop system your bags aren't necessarily going to be extremely heavy anyway - considering it's a 3 month contract - after the contract has ended you'll only be in the summer months so the posting is fairly light still.
