Pot Of Gold

Post by fishtank »

As we have heard State Aid has been approved.

There is a £1 billion escrow established as security for the Royal Mail Pension Plan (£850 million funded principally from the Mails Reserve, and £150 million funded from Royal Mail Group resources);
At last accounts this has grown to £1.2Billion.

In the state aid application there was this....

(55) Finally, it is planned that at 31 March 2012 the existing escrow arrangements established by RMH and RMG in March 2007 (as explained in paragraph 3) will be terminated and the funds held in escrow will be released to RMH and RMG respectively.

What will we spend it on?
Colleagueshares anyone? :whistle

What about this, this aint the escrow thing is it?...
It has also agreed that Royal Mail can receive restructuring aid in the form of debt reduction of up to £1,089m, provided we implement our restructuring plan in full.
What is State Aid?...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No.
Royal Mail has a large number of commercial loans to Government some dating back more than 10 years to the failed expansion into Europe.
These were due to be paid back at commercial rates over the next few years.
Most if not all have also been written off.
We are now officially flush, although they will deny it.
We are also ripe for privatisation. :cuppa
