Contracted hours changing week to week

Ok so the duty I have been given for the week is full-time, however, I am only on a 22 hour part-time contract. When I mentioned this to the DOM, he told me that your hours will be changed depending on the duty your on for the week. So this week I am on a 39 hour week. Next week I am back on 22 hours again. Anyway can they change your contracted hours week to week, and where do I stand on cutting off am I obliged to work to my 22 hour contract, or do I need to work to the full-time hours contract when I am put on these duties. I have signed no other contracts by the way apart from my 22hour one.

Also I should apologise to the Full timers who I have moaned about not boxing me in, when I arrived for my duty. Having done full time hours all week, I now know that, it is the managers fault, for not giving ample time for duties to be boxed in, in the first place, so no wonder full timers leave someone's else's fitting without fully boxing it in, simply because they have barely enough time to box their own duty in. So again sorry full-timers

I asked him if it was optional to do these extra hours and he said no and that it would be changed on my contract for this week. It seemed a bit of a con the way he was talking, but I thought ok come in early do a bit prep work, earn some extra cash. But I do not want to be doing this until my contract runs out in a couple of months. I want to be able to just work my time when I want and not have to do the hours that the duty I am on has.

Sounds like hes talking shite. Contracted hours are contracted hours.

Anything more is overtime and thus voluntry. Any cahnges to the hours would have to be put on a new contract.

Answered u r own question really, if you are contracted to do a certain amount of hours, and you DON'T want any more grow a pair and tell em so

Don't worry I intend to tell him when I do not want to do overtime :-D


By the way just looking at my contract, it says under section 9.1 Hours of Work/ Overtime

"The nature of the service makes a measure of working overtime necessary. For this reason, it is a condition of your employment that you are liable to work overtime and to attend at varying times on any day as the needs of the service demand"

To me this suggests that RM are trying to force you through your contract to do overtime when its offered. Where does the union stand on the wording of this in RM employee's contracts

Exactly, which is why I have been, and will continue to cut off at 3.00pm , I don't intend to be out delivering past my time; prepping in the morning I am not that bothered. Anyway like you say I'm leaving in June, so I am not bothered about my contract being renewed, and to be honest I prefer doing my contracted hours, so I'll see what duty I am on next week, and have a word if its not my 22 contracted hours.

MY DOM is quite funny in a David Brent kind of way, I think he actually believes half the crap he says.
