payslip query

Im not one for checking payslips but something struck me today....

I have a £9.90 deduction in my wages which is titled POAL... This has only appeared in he last month or so since new wage slips were introduced!!
The only thing i can think of that it stands for is "post office annual leave" where you pay for extra weeks holidays... which i can assure i havent ever done since i joined royal mail 10 years ago!!

Can anyone shed any light?

are you sure you dont buy a/l, cos that is EXACTLY what it is. purchase of annual leave. if you say you havent asked to buy it, and you,ve never had it, then you,ve got some back money coming you,re way.

100% NEVER asked for it... Find it funny that this deduction has only appeared since new payslips / new pay numbers have been issued!!
We are only a small office so im presuming even our DIM will remember that i havent requested anything in the last 6 weeks!

the new system has brought it about, so it now appears on you,re payslip. but find out how long its been deducted from you,re wages. you could be in for a canny windfall

Ok guys.. Rung HR today that told me that i have been paying for these holidays since 2007.. started with RM in 2004 and i have NEVER agreed or signed any forms for this..
Relief DOM told me that 2011-12 holiday entitlement was the basic 4 weeks 3 and a half days and that is the same for 2012-13. so that means even though i have been paying for it i havent actually been told or has it been on the system!
Spoke to union man who told me he would be amazed if i got it back in any shape or form.. be it cash or holidays!

If you have paid for extra leave and you have not taken it then it would show on your leave card ?

Sounds like whoever does the leave in your office has made a mega cock up. Hope you get reimbursed.

On my leave card it shows the basic entitlement! which is 4 weeks 3 days and a half

same thing happend to a lad at our place,and last month got back 3500 pounds, he would never have known if they had not issued us with the new payslips.

Either way that does give me some hope..

Our normal Dim returns tommorow to which im expecting the usual battle over this with... I will provide him with every single piece of evidence under the sun and im sure he will fight the fact that im somehow wrong!

Also HR informed me of something i will of signed at the time to agree to deduction in wages and also consent that i want the purchase of annual holiday.. Im pleased to say this wasnt in my file as the dims face was so disappointed not to find it!

If i somehow do get the money back will it be out of the office budget or will it come back via other means!
