15 specials stolen

An office near mine had a driver who had 15 specials stolen from his P/L van yesterday.
I was sure I had read it on this forum previously that we were only allowed to have a maximum of 8 specials per van at one time .
Dont know the whole story how they were stolen from the van.

To be honest I didn't think there was a limit for vans as long as they had a lockable container inside. I thought the 8 limit was for walking/cycling deliveries - But I will check and get back to this thread.

There's no limit on vans and you don't need a security box as long as the load area is fully enclosed(no windows).

P/L vans dont have a lockable container inside, just the normal door locks.

If the driver has followed all correct procedures, s/he has nothing to worry about.
We can't be held responsible for every criminal act. Sometimes things are just beyond our control.

As the criminal fraternity gets to know that the little red vans are full of expensive goodies, I think we will see more and more of these stories.

Only problem is Clash that in Royal Mail you are guilty until you have proven beyond all doubt at a tribunal that you were in fact innocent.

If the perp forced his way into the van and helped himself to what was in it it isnt the van drivers fault .

In excess of £100k and I have to deliver them with no 2nd person to help. They won't do anything until someone gets done over I reckon.

Some vans auto lock so as long as they were not on the front seats etc

makes you think that some Securicor vans have less money in them than some of our vans and look at the security they have compared to us

I use to delivery to a firm with much the same value in Specials. It was like Fort Knox getting in the place with a van, anyone with inside knowledge of the products that were in the Specials, or an ex-postie , who had done the duty before could , could pass the info on to undesirables.

It was like a car park with not just RM vans deliverying but every parcel delivery firm waiting to off load the goodies! The colour of the stuff was like brass, but not, bit like silver, but not and it was heavy

Nothing was ever mentioned by any RM management, maybe I should have asked for danger money allowance, negotiated by the union!

I must say the vauxhall combos are fairly cruddy in locking and the actual locks itself in the vans...just 2 weeks ago me and a colleague had to manually open the doors since the remotes had been frozen to death (1 degrees tops!) then 3 hours later it worked when we had alsmot finished!
