Park & Loop Partner

What are the options reguarding your partner if your struggling working with them? I've put up with him for a few months but can't take anymore! He's useless! I go at a normal pace and end up waiting for him on every loop, I wouldn't mind if it was just a few mins so I could get my next bag ready or have a smoke, but it's over 15mins even longer sometimes (30 mins once!) He moan's that my loops are smaller than his so we swapped for a day and surprise surprise it made no difference! So now I don't wait for him I just carry on without waiting, but I end up finishing all my loops with him with still two to go, so I end up just sat there in the van waiting for him to finish twiddling my thumbs so he can drive back to the office, he probably thinks I should help him out when I've finished but I refuse cos he's one lazy bastard who's taking the piss out of me. I know this cos he was ill last week and had someone else and there was no problems what so ever and they were new to the walk. No waiting on any loops! I've explained this to my dom and line manager but they've done f**k all I've explained to them I've got my kids to pick up and he's making me late, so what are my options? Could he get moved on to another duty or would I have to move? I've got more seniority than him and he chose to be my partner I didn't choose him so I think they should move him, what do you think?

If he's doing the same amount of work as you but taking longer he's not being lazy he's being slower than you.
There could be many reasons for this,some may be his fault and some may not.
If you are still completing inside your contracted hours you have nothing to complain about.
If you are incurring overtime because one is slower than the other then i'm sure that will be addressed by management but there is no compulsion for you to work over your contracted hours.

It's rather naughty that you think he is so incapable but you would quite happily palm him off on another unsuspecting colleague.

If you're the driver then you should be delivering packets in the extra time.

Same here , I can pick and choose which loops to deliver my packets , bulk and specials in because of the extra time I am waiting for him. I can do 2 loops to his one but why should we do extra walking and help the slow ones out , it's more tiring for us. The dom daren't have a word with the slow guy and why should we moan all the time.

It sounds like they need to take some calls off of his loops and put them on Yours.There is no need for You to be late collecting kids from school...break off!!!!

Great idea! I'll just do all the work while he just wanders around with his finger up his arse! Like I said the loops are equal and fair I'm not doing loads more work than my partner and getting the same money at the end of the week!

have to ask the question are any of you using short cuts? ie: Not closing gates, jumping fences etc. Is there any reason they are slower, do they have any medical issues? Are they older? What is the reason they are slower? Is there any underlying issues or are they just slow?

Sorry pinkpat . No offence is meant here. Your situation is one that We have to avoid.A slow postman mustnt become his partners problem.If He cant complete his loops in the allocated time it is for his managers to look into not You.

We both do the job the same he is 52 and I'm 32 I know I'm younger but I would say he's just slow he's only been doing a walk since September last year, as he used to have a driving duty before the resign.

No worries! I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and respect that, but I'm just pissed off at the mo, it was always gonna happen with park and loop where you get two people who don't like or struggle working together

This is one of the reasons why this park and loop idea will never really work , you will always get people working at different speeds , its like in all walks of life,
you wouldnt have races if all people ran ,biked or swam at the same speed. The trouble is you end up falling out with those you work with which makes it an unpleasant experience all round. Why oh why do they have to keep coming up with these stupid ideas!!!!!
