Specials on Saturday

I know normal special deliveries aren't guaranteed to be delivered on Saturday,but in my experience loads come into the office every Saturday.

If one is posted out on Friday before the last collection from the PO,does it normally arrive next day?

I'm asking as someone has sent me something today that's important and could do with it being here tomorrow!

If they come into the DO they'll be attempted............that's providing that the MCs do their job and not cut corners to get finished early

Specials with a yellow SG sticker ARE guaranteed on a Saturday.

Just wondering, if it's not an SG, does it have to be delivered by 1:00pm on the Saturday? If its not guaranteed until 1pm Monday, surely 2pm sat would be OK?

Yes you have the correct idea as far as I know. As the delivery is guaranteed before Monday 1pm then delivering at 10pm on Saturday would still not be a failure, it would be a crazy time to be out, but if still fulfils the ToS.

I had one at the end of my walk a few saturdays ago, and asked, and was told it had to be there by 1pm. Mind you it was the manager, so I just ignored what he said.

If its allocated for delivery on Saturday,then it must be delivered by 1pm for a PDA delivery
it would be flagged as a failure after 1pm
on a card,it would still have to be confirmed by the normal weekday confirmation times

I think that this is hugely misunderstood!

The Saturday Guarantee is there for Royal Mail's benefit NOT the OPG i.e. if theres a problem then RM can get out of paying compensation. From an OPG's point of view Saturday is no different to another day when it comes to SD.

If your using a PDA then it must be delivered before 1pm no matter what sticker is on it, Saturday makes no difference to the PDA

Is it no wonder the business has such a poor industrial relations record when you look at the quote above, the manager is giving advice which will protect this individual and he brags that he ignored it. Like it or lump it every business must have managers and I accept they are not all good but they are also not all bad. If everyone adopted new posties attitude there would be chaos. What would new postie say next week if he had no wages because the manager ignored his attendance, new postie grow up.

On the subject of specials.I queried my union rep that "if i tried first time that day and scanned on pda that no answer,then lo behold the very occupent catches me up further up the street for it,and re scanned it as for his signature,if that was okay still"
His answer was"no its a failure" fair enough if it is one o clock, but not before surely.
