what's a Walk Sequencing Revision ?
We are receiving sequenced mail in our delivery office on waves 1 & 2, according to the agreement this triggers lump sum payment of 600 + 200 after 6 weeks. We are willing to adjust our start times to accomadate wave 2, thus triggers the 39hr Shorter Working Week.
Royal Mail are saying a load of bullshit why they are not paying us, including reasons that have nothing whatsoever to do with receipt of sequenced mail.
End to End state ? Delivery Methods ? Bundle Revisions ? etc the bullshit goes on and on lol.
Already lodged a I.R. disagreement on this matter, now up to stage 2, CWU area rep supporting us on this matter.
Spoke to our Area Manager he said "we need to do a walk sequencing revision" Cannot find anywhere on what this constitutes ????

The introduction of walk sequenced mail, adjusting start times to accommodate this and realigning hours to match the workload should trigger the £800 Transformation Lump Sum and the introduction of the 39hr week.
Royal Mail are trying to introduce the walk sequencing on the cheap and are trying to delay the implementation of the Shorter Working Week.
Either we work in the same area or this is a widespread tactic. They are not keeping to BT2010.
As suggested elsewhere on this forum - I think we should ballot.

Re: what's a Walk Sequencing Revision ?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but all of the lump sums under the BT2010 agreement need a REVISION for members to qualify.
Changing start times and/or getting walk sequenced mail in off themselves do not qualify for any of the payments. Its all on Page 71

Just to clarify a Revision is when the duties themselves change - As in streets added to some, taken from others or a rebalancing of duties. Its is as mentioned above not changing start times or getting walk sequenced mail, unless getting the mail sequenced has triggered a resign and walks have changed to take this into account.Lump Sums
The payment of £1,000 (pro rata for part time employees) consisting of 3 lump sums will be paid as follows.
£200 will be paid to everyone in the delivery unit on deployment of their first non walk sequencing revision.
£600 will be paid to everyone in the delivery unit on deployment of the walk sequencing revision.
£200 will be paid to everyone in the delivery unit when the Walk Sequencing revision has been implemented, and objectives achieved in line with the local agreement and no later than the end of the 6 week bedding in period.

Re: what's a Walk Sequencing Revision ?
P&L does not actually qualify a unit for a payment of the Lump Sums, unless its a Walk Sequencing revision or a non walk sequencing revision. What that means in practice is that if the P&L revision is the first or second revision within the life of the agreement then you get the appropriate lump sum. However if you have had 2 qualifying revisions and have had the £1000 then you won't get anything for a P&L revision. To be fair it will be rare that a P&L revision does not include 1 of the other 2 so in most cases it will be paid as appropriate.bringon4dayweeks wrote:yes we have mech mail which comes fully sequenced since last feb and we got no 600 quid i think you have to have the two posties in a van park and loop to qualifyislfor wrote:We are receiving sequenced mail in our delivery office on waves 1 & 2, according to the agreement this triggers lump sum payment of 600 + 200 after 6 weeks. Re: what's a Walk Sequencing Revision ?
Why would a walk sequenced "revision" involve walks being changed?
The time savings are so minimal that it may (and I stress may) provide opportunities for lapsing but wouldn't necessarily involve changes to duties.
If you have already had a Delivery Methods Revision, are they going to redo all the walks and frames as a result of the introduction of WSM?
And if you are still to have a DMR, (and there is only 1 year left to do that) are the walks all going to be changed twice in one year?
So it doesn't answer the original question - What is a Walk Sequenced Revision?

Re: what's a Walk Sequencing Revision ?
Normally its the other way round. A revision is carried out and the fact that you are getting WS is taken into account. I agree its unlikely that getting WS alone will mean a revision is needed, but the next revision must include it in its planning that's why you get it at when there is a revision rather than when you start getting sequenced mail.clashcityrocker wrote:Why would a walk sequenced "revision" involve walks being changed?
The original plan I believe was minimum of 2 revisions during the 3 years of the agreement. However the CWU have seemingly already accepted in principle that not all the revisions will happen - some may be as long as 5 years after.clashcityrocker wrote:The time savings are so minimal that it may (and I stress may) provide opportunities for lapsing but wouldn't necessarily involve changes to duties.

I don't know where you got that information from.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: The original plan I believe was minimum of 2 revisions during the 3 years of the agreement. As far as I know all revisions and consequently all monies are still due to be paid out during the life of BT2010.
So the original poster states that they are being asked to change their start times to accommodate Walk Sequenced Mail.
They can't change start times without consent unless they go down the road of executive action.(which is contrary to the aims of BT2010)
How much money is on offer to do this? If the answer is none - why would anyone agree to it?
If it is any other amount - where is that money coming from because it isn't in the agreement. Consequently it is reasonable to argue for the £800.
How can you change your start time if you haven't yet discussed your preferred attendance patterns?
It would appear Royal Mail's plan is to introduce the workplan and then expect members to plan their attendance patterns around it.
It would appear they are trying to preclude 1 in 4 Saturdays from the mix before the exercise even starts.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: what's a Walk Sequencing Revision ?
The original idea from BT2010 was that a delivery methods and walk sequenced revision would be integrated into one as a fully bundled revision process.
This would trigger £800 of the lump sum.
The other revision was more for offices that were a long way from getting walk sequenced mail to re-align workload with (decreasing) traffic.
These fully integrated revisions have mostly proved to be a disaster.
Managers are wary of introducing more.
The modernisation process is so far out of sync now that offices are getting walk sequenced long before they are getting delivery methods and vice versa.
Personally i think the delivery methods revision should trigger the £600 payment as that involves the most change.
I also believe that any IWT driven change in an office that has walk sequenced mail...is a walk sequenced revision whether that leads to later starts or more lapsing or whatever.
This would trigger £800 of the lump sum.

I was under the impression, and i'm sure i read it on here that if you had WSM mail and changed start times to suit, you would get the £600 then the £200.
It was something that raised my eyebrows as previously we had been preaching that it was not the case.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

yes we should have had the 600 quid but if they dont want to pay what can you do they are not honouring their side of the agreementbringon4dayweeks wrote:yes we have mech mail which comes fully sequenced since last feb and we got no 600 quid i think you have to have the two posties in a van park and loop to qualifyislfor wrote:We are receiving sequenced mail in our delivery office on waves 1 & 2, according to the agreement this triggers lump sum payment of 600 + 200 after 6 weeks. Re: what's a Walk Sequencing Revision ?
Receiving Walk Sequenced Mails will impact a DO in 2 main areas:clashcityrocker wrote:Why would a walk sequenced "revision" involve walks being changed?
1. The arrival profile of the mail will alter.
2. There 'should' be a saving in prep time of 19mins per walk.
This will only affect the indoor work of a DO but the walks themselves will be affected if the ration of indoor/outdoor work is changes and the complete duty structure re-assessed.
In terms of payments I think that you will find inconsistencies within regions and certainly between regions with those areas most keen to hold onto budget reluctant to release payment.
One thing that needs to be understood is that the planner is under pressure from the DOM, the DOM is under pressure from the DSM, the DSM is under pressure from the Lead DSM, the lead DSM is under pressure from the Regional Delivery Director, the Regional Delivery Director to the National Director ... to Moya !!! Understanding of the real issues starts to diminish at a fairly low-level of this little food chain and evaporates towards the higher echelons (with some exceptions) and if RM reached Utopia all would be down for their P45 so the project goes on and on and on .....
