It is a very dangerous strategy to attempt to replace lost revenue caused by falling membership by constantly increasing the subs.
It is even more dangerous to hike the political levy considering how difficult it is to measure how effectively that money is being spent.
I think we should ask Labour for a refund because they have taken us to the cleaners.

Well I suppose with the falling revenues and rate of inflation and the reluctance to cut costs they didn't have a choice BUT I think it was a little insensitive to increase the charges by 4% when our scheduled pay increase this year is 3.5% and that's IF we get it. The CWU should look realistically at it's financial position and make serious inroads into its expenditure, less chattering about it and more action is required................although that seems to be the unions malaise at the moment.

The political levy was 10 pence weekly but has now increased to 20 pence weekly. It is used to cover the cost of the CWU political activities including affilation fess and donations to political parties. At the moment Labour is the sole political party to recive money from the CWU political fund. What % of the political levy covers the affilations and donations I do not know, but the increase in the levy means the % has dropped without the actual amount going down.

The union is in complete dissaray..... From the top of the tree to the bottom N.B not all officials/ reps included. The chiefs can for example see that the BT2010 agreement is being ignored but do nothing, only confirm in writing the fact ..... Area officials are sitting about on cushty jobs in the warm and doing nothing, not even visiting the branches ...... A lot of unit reps (NOT ALL) are simply feathering their own nests, ending up with special consideration off the DOM for turning a blind eye or even rubber stamping the DOMs unfairness......
I know being an effective trade union is not easy nowadays but they could do hell of a lot more, perform better then talk about an increase
