unfair sched attendance

Post by combo_king »

8 rural drivers who get 15 hours a week, 7 on a tuesday 8 on wednesday (union man included) and two deliveries and paket n trackeds men who get 19 hours 10 on a tue and 9 on a sat and do afternoon scheds aswell when theres other men only getting 1 afternoon sched a week, these shifts done away with full time floaters and its the total unfairness of it all, it does my head in they were never put up for signing or put through a vote. theres part time boys desperate for hours and this team get everything going, rant over

if they have each more than one scedule and you have none then you have a case to complain but scedules go up for signing when avaliable and you take your chance like everyone else ime afraid

if this is recent then you need to be asking why they were not put up for signing

to do away with duties as such 28 days notice would have had to be given and put on the notice board as that is the statutory minimum notice required

was that done, if not, complain

the rep consults with its members first
not management

its his job to protect those jobs, not get rid of them unless its part of a revision and not just a cost cutting exercise

I thought we were not allowed to sign for more than 12 hours SA per week. This is what we were told during our SA signups, not that anyone could sign for that much now but in the past it would have been possible.

Just checked the Way Forward
OVERTIME and SCHEDULED ATTENDANCE

Overtime and Scheduled Attendance will be paid at standard non-pensionable cash rates per hour. These rates will not vary according to the time of day or day of the week, except for higher rates on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Enhanced rates for SA will continue to reflect the benefits of stable and reliable cover. These will only be paid where the conditions of the existing national agreement are met (i.e. each attendance is scheduled to a nominated employee and substitute for the year, and is paid on the basis of hours actually worked, excluding breaks except of Sundays). SA will be limited to no more than 12 hours per employee in any week. Where this necessitates a review of local SA arrangements this must be completed by the implementation date.

The new adult rates (with overtime rates for employees aged 16 and 17 increased to 87.5% of these adult rates) from the date of introduction will be as follows, at 1999 rates:

Monday-Saturday overtime £7.05 per hour (for the first 10 hours during a week)
overtime £6.81 per hour (for hours worked over 10 per week)
SA £8.50 per hour
Sunday overtime £9.50 per hour SA £9.90 per hour
Bank and Public Holiday overtime £11.73 per hour
(alternatively a day off in lieu plus payment of £7.04 per hour may be taken for Holiday attendances of more than 2 hours).
Travelling Time £6.07 per hour

Sunday overtime and SA will remain pensionable for two years after 8 May 2000. In order to protect the pension position of employees who are aged 57 or over on 6 May 2002, these employees will retain pensionability of Sunday overtime and SA, on a personal reserved rights basis, until age 60 (or at the age at which they take their pension if later). The facility within existing pension rules to base final salary on the best thee consecutive years out of the last ten will provide some mart-time protection to employees aged over 50.

you need to check also if these people are having the 11 hour break between the end of one day
(duty plus SA) and the start of the next days official duty start time

you are correct on the 12 hour max scedule signing and you need to raise this issue with your dom if you feel you are being treated unfairly

if it takes a grievance, so be it

to many offices have jobs for the boys and i will not stand for it, i do not care if you have been in the job 5 minutes or 20 years, we are all equal on overtime

Those SA duties should go up annually too. Perhaps rota them as well,(week A and Week B) when it goes up. That way everyone gets a chance. Construct a letter to your rep. If you need help on how to rota them PM me and I will give you the templates.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I never knew that. Could have been for life as far as I was concerned.
I'm paid £9.51 an hour basic, including Delivery Supplement, and £9.81 an hour Scheduled Attendance :Very Happy so 30p an hour isn't a big difference but I suppose it adds up to a few quid over a year. :Very Happy
