Could not make special 1 pm deadline

Ok so I was put on another new duty today, left the DO around 11.20am and I had nine specials. Since I had not done this duty before I had no idea if I could make the 1 pm deadline for these, and I told them that, but they said just go out and phone if you can't. I don't like the idea that I have to phone using my credit to do this, so I did not phone them when It was clear that I would not make 4 of the specials. So if it comes back and someone complains, I wonder if they will they point the finger at me ? I hope they do, I'd love to tell the DOM how thick he is putting me on a new duty and giving me nine specials to deliver in 1 hour 40 mins. Last week I was told to not bother about getting the 1.00pm deadline, just get them delivered, was the line I was given, so maybe this applies for the xmas period .

You shouldn't have taken 9 Specials out anyway if you are are Foot Soldier.The Maximum is 8 ,less if they are "High Value" whatever that means. As for you using your own phone for Royal Mail business - don't get me started !

Don't worry, we sent out about 40 Specials yesterday of which at least 7 were delivered after 1pm.

Allowance should be made that you "had not done this duty before".
Much easier with a familiar duty when the order of the route can be varied somewhat.

Sliders,what kind of duty was it,if it's a bag on the back pre P&L you should only have a max of 8 specials.

It is a bag on back duty no P & L, and two of the specials were not even on my walk (which I only found out when I was in the middle of my walk), but they were two street away from it, so I attempted them (after 1.00pm) when my walk came close to them. So someone screwed up when they gave me those two.

Sliders, well done for going the extra mile to deliver specials that weren't even on your walk. Unfortunately it's that sort of dedication that never makes it to the public, all they ever hear about is delays and queues at callers offices. Don't wait for your DOM to ask you why they were late - go and tell him, get your retalliation in first
