I suppose if you have the power to arbitrarily 'lock' threads because of 'name calling', then you may as well exercise it. There's always the danger that we may get used to the idea that this is an adult forum for Royal Mail employees who, having been well ground down by our employers in recent times, can find an outlet for discussion and argument amongst ourselves on a national basis, just as if we were sitting in the canteen with workmates. It's nice to be reminded that Big Brother is watching over us and is more able to decide on our behalf whether we can take a bit of name calling or not, than we can for ourselves. I'm pretty sure there is a historical precedent for this. I must go and look it up....

I'm one of the longer serving members of the board and even I've had threads locked/been told off/had the stop it PM, it's not personal, it's just something that's done to allow other threads to carry on so that people can get the information they need.

im disapointed in the outcome the name calling has been far worse in some other threads and in particular anger, its debate after all ,so where else can we discuss relevant issues that affect us ,the part time v full time issue needs addressing even if its to get pent up feelings out, we will always be a divided workforce if we cant talk and sort it out, besides the most insulting thing on that thread was A/ comments on poor grammar and B/ divide and conquer . we are divided and if i have mispelt anything or not put a coma or full stop in the right place so what ? people are always going to say something you dont like if they have a different take on things ,but im not going to see their point of view however its said if its not allowed to be put across and just incase anybody misreads this i am trying to be subjective not argumentative

Sometimes we can't win,we're very lax with the rules on here,other forums half of you would of been kicked out,including me tbf,adults or not.
A lot goes on behind these type of threads,posts reported,members reported because he said this or that,we do try to balance things out.
Some threads have to be stopped,you just know what way they are going.
