christmas wreaths

Has anyone been prickled leaning towards the letter box by one of these yet - I have haha :Very Happy And what are these silly ones that clip onto the letter box with a big brass clip - they stop parcels sliding through properly. Christmas, bah... :no no

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Not yet this year but did headbutt a hanging basket today, nothing in it apart from dirt and dead plants :neutral:

I nutted one on friday :d'oh!

Also headbutted a big brass door knob which had been there for years (god knows why i did that) whilst trying to cram a ream of letters through :left:

Yes, tied to the door knocker, so the string breaks and it falls off when you try to summon the resident for a parcel. :sad:
And I thought wreaths were about death and Christmas was about Christ's birth - or have I got it all wrong ? :shock:

The whole point of bringing in evergreen branches etc and decorating them was to celebrate the winter solstice. When all the other trees seemed dead, the evergreen trees seemed to have magical powers that enabled them to survive. So branches of them (NOT whole trees!) were brought into the home and/or temple and decorated to bring back spring, longer days and the warmth again.

Christmas is another Christian celebration that incorporated Pagan traditions in a bid to get the Pagans to stop worshipping their redneck (which is basically what Pagan means) Gods and worship the one God.

The eggs and rabbits/hares at Easter (Eostre) have nothing to do with Jesus either and more to do with spring rites/rituals, rebirth, fertility etc.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?
