Should PT and FT do same lapsing?

Mail is down by a certain percentage. That means there is a certain amount of work needed to make up for that time. I can get my head around that. What I can't understand is why part timers and full timers are given the same -20 mins- lapsing to do.

20 mins is a bigger percentage of the part timers 5 hours than the full timers 39 hours, so in real terms, aren't the part timers being given more work?

I'm no carol vorderface, but surly if the full timers do their contracted hours and partimers do their contracted hours, then percentages don't come into it ? Everyone does the work in the time contracted to do it in.

Many part timers don't do IPS and some don't prep, so the lapsing is purely out on delivery, the same as FT workers, so it makes no difference.

Part timers,you do what you do in your contracted hrs,if you have time to prep or IPS then you have time.
There is no law that says part timers shouldn't do this or do that.

I said many, not all.

I used to prep, but I didn't do IPS. I used to do lapsing. But I didn't work over my time. So it didn't really matter what they asked me to do in that time-lapsing or no lapsing.

The way to look at is, they pay for six hours work. It doesnt matter what youre doing in that time, just work your six hours.

We stopped lapsing 2 years ago plus we cut off everyday since P/L anyway

Absolutally nothing at all to do with P/T or F/T constant reference like this only serves to fuel division between full and part timers. We are all the same, F/T workers are just fortunate to have more contracted hours.....

Now lapsing, you should only EVER lapse if you have spare time in your duty, can't be more simple than that, if you have no spare time and do not wish to perform overtime do not do lapsing

In my office almost all full timers have rural duties. These are 5+ hrs out on delivery. Part time generally do town walks. 3.5 hrs out on delivery. These both get the same lapsing to do. I know its doesn't matter what you are given to do in your 5 or 8 hrs you get paid the same, but it just looks like their system for filling in the hours is flawed. A 5% drop on a 5 hour delivery is more than a 5% drop on a 3.5 hour delivery.

Don't know why I'm surprised, everything else they do is flawed.

Just sticks in the throat a bit when you are arguing over an extra 20 mins on your duty that you can't do, and the full time duty gets the same 20 mins added, and completes easily.

This is what it boils down to. They say you HAVE got time, you say you haven't.

You do your 5 hours and go home.. if only it was that easy.

A 5% drop on a 5 hour delivery is more than a 5% drop on a 3.5 hour delivery.

You could probably argue that a 5% fall in traffic has less effect on a rural call rate than a town call rate.
