christmas arrangements

Anyone been told what the plan is this year? ie hours up front/ how many hours for your day off?

5 and a bit weeks till xmas, packets going through the roof, any other company would have planned weeks ago but alas we aint any other company.

We have two night duties and two extra packet duties. The only OT is a few collections on sundays, no other SA or block hours and no working days off

so far we have a couple of full timers working nights throwing of flats and packets an extra area set for some casuals to throw off packets , and packet deliveries that commence week after next dont know how many on maybe two different shifts, and i believe everyone has been asked what days off they are willing to work upto xmas and extra pkt hours for packets on your own duties ,so basically they seem to be making it up as they go along

Just that they wanted to know who is prepared to work o/t, and who wants to work their hours - swings and roundabouts was mentioned, which it should be, as that's the only way to ensure people work their contract hours - also the dreaded 30 min flex - but they have to give notice 1st

What is to dread about, when you can choose to agree or not agree to flex once in a week, with a flex-back that same week? Flexing cannot be enforced upon you by managers, it has to be done with your consent!

we were told the xmas pressure starts on the 12thdec, which is bollox cos thats right in the thick of chrimbo then. its just so they dont have to pay the ''skeddy'' rate for overtime before then. so i asked for a week off commencing 5th dec,,,, guess what, they said no, i can,t have it, its too busy then,,,,xmas pressure!!!???

Nothing to plan for us. You deliver everything and write down your overtime, same as the other 51 weeks in the year.

Whats swings and roundabouts within rm and the 30 mins flex is exactly what it means....flexable, ie if you dont want to then dont.

That's what I'm doing this year too, I'm planning on having a really relaxing Christmas this time around..........do my hours and then go home.
