Elastic Bands

Hi Guys, used to be a postie up to 4 years ago so know what a tough, unrewarding job in can be and of course realise its even harden now but just wondering if there's any chance of those of you who don't pick up elastic bands perhaps doing so. The reason being I found a hedgehog recently with its leg nearly torn off by one of the red bands and I've since learnt it's a really common injury even though hedgehogs generally are in huge decline.
Thanks to those of you who already do, must admit I often didn't pick bands up, always trying to make up time, but would now, having seen the distressed little hog who sadly had to be destroyed,
To you all (well except for a couple of the nasty selfish saddos who I once knew at RM!)

I hate to grass him up but it was probably that bloke who hates the rats with spikes.

I always used to pick them up because of such examples. But then again, I'm a soft s**t, and I didn't drop them in the first place

I also cut any plastic strapping/loops or anything before it goes into the bin/recycling in case it does end up in landfill or out elsewhere and an animal gets their head caught in it.

I swear my floater takes extra bands out with him just so he can throw them on the floor. After my day off i must pick up more dropped bands than i normally use in a week!

Thought you were supposed to drop bands when learning a new walk, so when you get lost you can follow the trail back to safety..

We don't use red bands...ours are brown...and hedgehog friendly(crap and easy to snap).

I always pick up the bands for the sake of the hedgehogs, even if I haven't dropped them. Some people seem to think it's fun to harm hedgehogs, I saw somebody deliberately run one over once. Hopefully the c*nt died horribly.

I hope you mean the person doing the running over because I'm sure the hedgehog probably did

It's not just the hedgehogs, my cat has a fondness for RM elastic bands, I have to hide them or he tries to eat them

Strange - I have 2 cats and they take no notice of them. Mind you I do find them, the bands, in some weird places when cleaning.
