Hello, does anybody have any problems with a PDA when they get wet? I have got a couple wet and they have not switched back on.

nope, if that happens I just go back to the old school and get out a P4550 and a pen :)

not had one personally that has not switched itself off because it has got wet though, all mine ever does is forget to send the bloody records so I have to reboot it mid round.

Mine rang the other day, scared the s**t out of me when it rang. Managed to work out how to answer it and some chap said "rob, it that you, rob, are you there?". Now i know this is a bit childish but i made some rather strange noises, well over exaggerated love making noises to be honest, and they soon hung up. Hope rob didnt get into trouble for it though whoever he was!!. Strange thing is though, i cant ring out on it as it keeps saying disconnected.

They're on the Vodafone network so can easily be the subject of a wrong number. However, you can only dial that 0800 number (to call the office etc) and 999/112 as you should've been told when you were "trained" to use them.

When I used to look after them at our office, reboot them etc, I used to read some of the text messages etc on them that had been sent in error... hilarious!

i have been reading some employment tribunal claims against royal mail. on one issue which was won, the panel concluded that there is no obligation for the employee to contact royal mail at there own expense, and that it up to the employeer to provide such things as mobile phones etc.

so where does this go now with an office that has a pda for its staff, but the telephone itself is turned off

is there any agreement to cover this other than the SSOW

PDA ssow is the only agreement that holds the field, as TT states you should be trained on all aspects of the PDA, IMO you cant turn the phone off

when i was trained on them i was simply told "we don't use the phone on them at all!" and we never have, i don't even know how to ring the office!
