Xmas is pay back time

Since our revision early this year our offices moral has hit an all time low. Managers bullying and intimidating staff every day into doing extra, union rep mostly off sick, area rep only ever seen or heard at election time and the usual jolly staff totally demoralised. I'm just hoping Xmas is our saving grace in cut offs and total chaos. Something needs to happen or half the office will be off with stress by the end of winter. It's a sad reflection on modern day rm when staff like myself and others who have 25+ years service want it to fail. We have been trimmed trimmed then trimmed again to a point where 2 or 3 staff go off sick and the place is in disarray. No sign of this manager cull either as we had 5 in yesterday for 115 staff with them all doing posties work.

Yeah we had some doms going out doing deliveries this week, i even tooted one on my way driving home

Christmass has always relied on a big slab of goodwill from the posties working through poor weather and long hours to get the xmas mail out. It was fine when xmas pressure added a couple of hours to your day and you were going home by 2pm. But now with normal deliveries pushing 4-5 hours xmas pressure could see 6 hours out on the street. Thats without any snow or minus temps every day.

I am working my time this year. Most of my office will accept the SA deal but i feel there will be a few that regret it.

we have not got a sa deal this year no xmas arrangements .You can only work to your time then blow them out of the water.

Like you said what a sad reflection on what was once a great company to work for

Our WTL this week was about Bullying but it was only about bullying managers Toadies, because as we all know managers don't bully anyone

RM is run on a dispicable culture of bullying and in my opinion 90% of the perputrators are management, wether it be an Area manager bullying DOM's, linos or more likely managers bullying some poor postie because he's not as quick as the toadie who was on the duty yesterday who comes in early and uses his own car

Nobody in their right mind denies management their right to discipline staff when required, but procedures are there to be followed and nowhere in any disciplinary procedure have I ever read says it's right to bully an individual and that's what you get day in day out nowadays.......

imo it's quite often the people who have been with royal mail for years who are the problem....remembering "the good old days" when the job was easy and you finished early every day and didn't work anywhere near your full hours but expected to be paid for them.....welcome to the real world!!!
The job is not for everyone.....if it's so bad you know what your options are....don't bring the rest of your colleagues down and think about the customers....i know i do and am proud to show it..

i get surprised in a thread like this when lads write that theres no xmas arrangements this year,,,,,ive only worked for the mail for 6 years,,,,the 1st couple we had the likes of primary sorting on the 2 sundays up to xmas,,,,and always had 2 extra vans and lads doing parcels from them,,,working approx 9am -5pm each day.

now for the last 3 years we aint had any eatras except for the vans,,,,,no s/a allowance not even on the saturdays
luckily them vans do take a heck of a weight and amount of parcels of us.

this year,,,,,no extra vans,,,,got a sheet of paper asking us if we wanted overtime after 3pm when the others have finished with there vans so we can take parcels out LOL

so basically were used to having no xmas arrangements u here for years

the other big thing that DID suprise me is,,,,i know,,,you know xmas is approaching,,,,how come royal mail,,,at least in our office get suprised when it arrives and end up in a panic to get it sorted and delivered

Got it wrong they are not his customers they are royal fails they employ him to deliver the mail from 00.0 to 00.0 during those hours he delivers what he can without runnunig around now when that time is up and you haven't finished it's your choice to cut off or deliver the rest on o/t .Now with all thats gone on in the last year loss of share money , revisions etc pushing you to the limit and over it why should you care if it fails ? granted we'd all like to be able to deliver it all and in the real world where expectations of a realistic work load would enable this but as we can all see through the revisions that have taken place blood does not flow easily from a stone...... proud maybe foolish jurys out on that one !!!

You should be supporting or trying to encourage him rather than breaking his head. His office is prob a real nightmare so is it any wonder that anyone there has much enthusiasm for a xmas workload.
