Xmas Is Approaching ....!?!?

Is anyone within The Royal Mail,actually looking forward to the upcoming Xmas pressure?
Because from wheir i'm sat,thanks to the recently brought in Park & Loop revision I think its gonna be absolute chaos ...
I really cannot see a vast amount of our customers xmas cards being delivered when they should be ( 1st and 2nd class mail ) due to the 1000's of cut offs
Your thoughts ... ??

As it gets nearer the instruction goes out "Never mind the sodding cards, get the f*cking packets delivered!"

Me? I love it. The look of pure terror on the DOM's face is worth all the angst.

The cards weren't a problem last year - they get fewer and fewer every year.
The biggest problem is the packets - especially the volume of tracked packets.

When I said XMAS CARDS I was really encapsulating the whole of the Xmas Post and pressure...
Add to that,the increase in the amounts of specials that people send ... that somewhow have to still be attempted by 1pm
I honestly do think,that Royal Mail are gonna have a very real problem this year delivering everyone's post.
Am trying to picture the confusion and mess in the callers office's within delivery offices this xmas as well ( given that we must NOT leave anything with nieighbours now,etc ... ),having to put a docket through for everything...

Funny but i was thinking about this walking around today

I used to look forward to xmas with just the one delivery each day and plenty of overtime. This year i just feel flat about the whole affair and wont be doing any overtime. Just going to do my hours and go home.

Last year was chaos, but as our DOM said, it's all to do with the snow and nothing to do with MC/DO failings...

The reason why cards were down was because they were stuck in some warehouse because of the snow last year. You probably had about the same but was delivered over a longer period.
xmas doesn't change for posties most posties just work their normal hours. Doms beware

i worked on nights last christmas eve, the packets went crazy, i am sure the mail centre was holding them back, also the missorts were hideous, when mail centres employ casuals the level of accuracy is rubbish.
Royal mail used to be great, now the love for the company has gone, big businness who steal our revenue by using dsa, have ruined it.

Absolutely pokos ....
Up until about 2 years ago,we had xmas hours and duties in our office.
This was all discussed and agreed with,locally ....And it all ran quite smoothly ....
E.G We had in place,7 or 8 hire vans to handle the extra volume of packets ....
Also had a night shift in place,to take the pressure off of the sorting in the morning.
But this year,am unsure if the powers that be,are even worried or concerned about the run up to xmas ...
