Quite a debate occuring in our office at the minute about the terms of the flex up procedure. Is the forum header justified or not? Is flexing if initiated compulsory or voluntary? If anyone knows the precise whereabouts of the agreement i would be mighty thankful. Ta.

Flexing up isn't something that an individual member is obliged to do.
It's an office resourcing plan that requires volunteers.
If there are no volunteers then an alternative resourcing plan has to be used.
That's why as an office we have recruited more staff.
We have an "action team".

I think this relates more to the use of the lowest model week with the IWT and "flexing up" outside of those parameters.

The CWU has about the least amount of communication that there ever was to members,
It much prefers to allow "Local Agreement" . That way London can keep its ways of working and the rest of us have ours

The problem is as in all agreements the wordings are pants,there is nothing that says it 'voluntary' but then there is nothing that says it's 'mandatory' either.
Swings n roundabouts are mentioned,ask is also mentioned.

The agreement on flexing is clear , it is voluntary , and it is only for unforseen circumstances and if an indivudual agrees to 30 mins flex than it has be given back to them within the week. Equally you can only flex up once per week.

Now of course maangers are going to try it on but the agreements clear if you can't or dont want to flex say NO !
