bit worried
I twisted my knee on duty about two weeks ago and I had to go on the sick for a fortnight i’m receiving physiotherapist at the moment and my manager sent me a letter on saturday morning saying I got to have a meeting with him next friday because he wants to get me back to work. i went back to my doctor on friday and he gave me a further sick note for two more weeks my doctor said I am not fit for work and my physio said I am not fit so can my manager force me back he is a ok manager but I don’t know what is gunna come of this meeting my knee is still in bandages and swelled. can anyone advise me please….

Did your doctor give you a sick note that exempted you from all work or a fit note that exempted you from just walking ? If your doctor said you can't do any work then you are not fit for work simple , if your doctor said you are not fit for doing a delivery only your manager could find you work to do like sorting etc. But that depends on you being able to get to work safely and being able to work safely. If your manager is so desperate for a meeting ask him and the rep to visit you.

Make sure that your injury is recorded in the 'accident book' and therefore classed as an 'accident on duty'.
Ask your Union rep/colleague if they will sit in on the interview and provide any support.
Do not be bullied by your manager into coming back to work if your Doctor has given you a sick note.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit Team at Job Centres.
What Royal Mail class as an Incident is classed as an Accident in their eyes! Especially if you have problems with the knee later on, it will then be registered with these guys if you need to make any benefit claim because of it.
