changing the days you work

Hello,I'm a rural floater and work Mon-Friday,and It's looking like our office is going to change to everyone roating,so hence I will only get 1 Saturday every 6 off.its really going to mess up my family life,so much for being family friendly,working till 3pm on a Saturday. Where do I stand on this?bloody deal was 1-4 saturdays! Argh

great these saturdays till 3pm, oh not managment they bank their hours and finish early on a saturday so they can wath their beloved footie team play. ............ stinks if you ask me!

Well its not voted in yet,but I work with muppets what I think still thinks they will still finish early on a Saturday. For example my Mrs works on saturdays so could I just say I can't work saturdays as I haven't for the last 4 years,really don't understand how they can change your hours so much.

Everyone should be working Saturdays, it's only fair if everybody takes their share of Saturdays.

I think you'll find that everyone would love to work Mon-Fri and have every Saturday off but sadly it they can't and you shouldn't be either.

Our office recently voted for a rotating day off, but rather unsurprisingly the same number of duties with a fixed Saturday off matched the number of "No" votes - however, the Union are now trying, locally, to introduce 1 in 4s off to try and sweeten the pill for them.

I dream of getting Saturdays off without being sick or using annual leave, but hey thats how the cookie crumbles. I accepted it when I started at RM and if you agree with the Union and its democratic principles that means sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth.

If however you "need" saturdays off rather than "want" them because it makes family life easier, you do have the right to apply for Family Friendly.

Unless you've got to go to watch football/rugby etc. then it may be beneficial (don't shoot me for playing Devils advocate), you could get to bed a bit later on Friday night and because you're not up as early on the Saturday then you won't be as tired and can get out for longer on Saturday night...............or watching all of the X Factor without falling asleep halfway through it

think yourself lucky i have been a holiday cover in my office for about 7 years now and a 1 in 6 saturday sounds great i sometimes go about 3 or 4 months without a saturday off -then i might get a burst of 3 saturdays in 4 off - think yourself lucky you get 1 in 6 off

"Saturdays off", those two words strung together don't exist in my world. 3 and a half years and NEVER had a Saturday off.
