on monday office in ka area are going to try this why ?
to keep all prep men at frames without moving to ips etc to collect mail
they will use 1 or 2 men feeders to take all trays ips mail etc to all frames to keep prep going
this is to be done WITHOUT union cwu input rep knew nothing about it
rumour is they expect prep to manage 5 frames in 3 hrs prep using iwt and all the other bullying tactics for performance. we currently struggle to prep 3-4 duties .
no time for d2ds either .
and god help the poor souls they pick to feed prep they will be non stop back and forward.
no h/s checks on amount of time being forced to stand for long periods ie dvt etc you must be able to move about ,not to mention rep strain injuries with even more prep over longer.
where does it all end
should we be forced to do this

What we have is a Donkey that wanders around the office wil all sorts of mail attached to it. I honestly believe that this is the way forward.

Sounds like world class mail to me, but the feeders are called porters. oh and who takes the blame for any miss-prep items ?

It sounds good to me. I hate going round the pigeon holes. You have to squeeze in amongst the smelly sorters, who hate it. Yet they shout when the hole is full and expect you to know which duty they are shouting about, let alone hear them. The holes are full over flats, yet are just the size meant for ordinary mail. Most of the duties I cover are on the bottom row, so you have to squeeze over the piles on the frame, and be careful not to knock a single item onto the floor, or all hell breaks loose.
I'd love to have someone bring my stuff round to my frame.

I bet you would. You'd have to tell them to be careful when they put the mail down at your frame not to knock over your coffee or squash your sandwiches. Tell them to do it quietly too so they don't interrupt your conversation with the guy next to you. The ordinary mail holes will be full of flats because there aren't enough flat frames. The reason the sorters are 'smelly' is probably that they break sweat sometimes - something that you won't need to worry about. If you really hate going round the pigeon holes and being shouted at by sorters why don't you offer to swap jobs with one of them? I've made that offer to several guys in my office but strangely they all seem quite happy to continue prepping the delivery frames. I wonder why that is.

When looking at the title of this thread all I can think of 'Fatties and their Feeders'

If they want to do this (yet another bad decision) then let them, people just need to start on time and NOT help the management out by working their day off. Everything RM do to try to improve efficiency they make it worse, makes you wonder why they're paying the Japanese professor if he can't even sort out the main efficiency issues then he's no chance of sorting out the little problems (vacuum machines to suck up the dust).

Of course the best and most efficient method is the old one, everybody on IPS, rural duties shorter with the towns still doing the additional preps.
