Delivery Offices !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone an idea on how many delivery offices are to close, It seems every week there are more added to list, do the cwu know ? don't think so we find more about what is going on on here then again we are the frontline staff who do do a days work, come on cwu show some gutts and let your members know what the hell is going because soon you will have very few members to fight for, over to you hayes,ward and the rest of you at hq .your menbers are waiting

Perhaps someone could knock up a spreadsheet,then the D.O's and mail centres that have been culled can be added by the members on this forum!!!!!!!

If my delivery office closes and is moved into a larger unit, say Trumpton closes and is incorporated into Camberwick Green, is Trumpton no more? are all the old duties and duty holders thrown into the mix?
It looks like our unit is closing and we are going to have to travel 20+ miles to work and back again for the delivery, no one will tell us anything, area manager said we will start again at the bottom of the heap and would be doing any duty or hours that they decide!
Anyone help?

Normally when a DO is closed and moved into a bigger DO it continues to operate more or less as a seperate unit within the larger unit. The only staff that work across both are reserves. At least this is how it has worked for offices which have closed recently in our area.

We were merged with another D.O. about 5 years ago.
We are just two offices sharing the same building.
Two sets of IPS,dbf's,two sets of reps etc.
They keep trying to integrate us but we're not having it.
The others from the other place are a strange bunch...nice enough but strange..

Thanks for your replies, so if your on a rural would we drive back to the new unit (20 miles!) park up, go home or would we keep our vans at home? It's been suggested we would but where would we log off PDA's etc? What about walking staff? again, suggested we prep their mail and bring it to them, is it acceptable to unload a van into a HCT on the street? What about 739ed items, how far is it acceptable for the public to come and get their items? again, suggested that items are left at local PO's ( there aren't any! ) or shops!

Think of system that would save RM the most money and that's probably the one they'll pick! Your idea of Prepping and Dropping off the mail at a Posties village is already done in some DOs with large Rural Areas. Bear in mind though that the Postie would only be on a Delivery Only Duty and might be willing to Lose 3 or 4 hours a day!

Thanks for that, sounds very similar to what they want here. The big office will prep some of our rounds and maybe half of us will travel to the new unit and double prep the rest of the walks. Now here's a funny thing I can only just get my round into my van on a busy day but 2 more rounds! I agree that more travelling and more prep means LESS delivery so should need more staff? Can't see how specials will get delivered before 1pm. Some of our blokes are on a 4 day week, rep seems to think that they can't be forced of it , 1 day less to travel
We've been told to keep vehicles at home because new unit won't have enough parking space, what does the floater do when it's my day off? do I take it to him? how then do I get home as some of our lads live all over the county?

want to close Kidsgrove ST7 and move to Newcastle Office at the end of Financial year.

We were warned ours might close next year and merge with another 15 bloody miles away. Its all over at the moment
