Starting early...

Ok so last week i was asked if i could come in early (paid of course) as they was short staffed so i needed to prep my own duty. No problem, I agreed as i could do with the cash. Come saturday, manager said ill be on that duty on monday and then different ones rest of the week. I then said ok, what time shall i come in monday cos i can come in early again if need be. he said he'd let me when i got back from my duty. later that afternoon i got back but he had gone home and not let me know.

im presuming he dont want me in early tomorrow, and to be honest ive had a heavy weekend anyway and dont fancy an early now. what i dont want is a phone call while im sleeping saying hey where are you.

as its OT anyway I dont have to go in do i? or even answer my phone. i know this sounds stupid ive just got this image in my head of them presuming ill be there, even though he's not said yes or no.

im not gonna call them in the morning just to find out. he should have let me know before hand right??

advice anyone. i know this all sounds bit silly. i worry about stupid stuff like this.

my contracted hours are 9am - 2pm anyway.

(Sucking of teeth) , as your contracted hours start at nine and he did not reply the assumption will be that you return to your default hours,i.e. back to nine o' clock start.

i often had the managers phone me up all hours to come in etc - i worked my butt off for 12years , helped them out (not just myself with ££S ) and went out of my way for them in my time - where did has it got me and many others = lower earnings,treated/spoken to like dirt and loss of duties etc etc !! simple lesson here - no matter what you do you will always be a name and number and blamed too when things go wrong !!! advice - do your hours unless your desperate for the £s !!!

As always if you are expecting direction from a Manager but do not receive such, then whatever was discussed defaults to "standard operating procedure".

Its his problem and not yours. Communication skills from your dom have been a let down and why should you chase him up for overtime unless you really need it. Work your contract hours and chill. I think alot of offices have this problem with doms that don't communicate properly on the shop floor.

well, what a surprise. woke up this morning, ten minutes later 'hey where are you? are you coming in?' i said yeah i start at 9. they said oh we thought you was coming in early!!! pfffft!!! i just said you was meant to tell me but never did..anyway i went in when i was ready, 45 mins after the call...didnt get out until 10:45 as my frame wasnt even prepped. cut off some packets.

the manager now has managed to ask me, can i do overtime this week and also gave me my start times!!! i dont mind overtime, just would like to know prior!!
