Change of hours

We were told today 29/9/11 that our start times change on Monday to between 6.00 am and 6.40 am is this enough notice by law?

28 days notice should be given,if it hasn't,it's EA.But tbf,it's EA in all but name.
Why the change anyway,what's going on in the office?

i dont understand your accronyms all i know is we have been given about 2 days notice not written. And the 30 hour staff are having to go on 4 day weeks now and have had their start times changed from 8am to approx 6am. Who in HR should i contact regarding this, surely it contravenes european law.

A change in start times is a contractual change and you should be given 28 days notice.
Unless a union bod has agreed to the changes on your behalf?
If they have brought in the changes without agreement, this is called EA (Executive Action). You need to talk to a union rep (either at local or Area level) to understand what is going on. The only response to EA is IA. (Industrial action)
Are the p/t staff who are moving to a 4 day week getting more Saturdays off as a result of the changes?

yeh this has all been negotiated by our reps and they said this is the best deal they can get. But a bit more notice would be nice, why rush it in? There must be a hidden agenda, bet theres some tasty bonus for our Dom if he gets it in straight away. I am so fed up with the union they just dont represent us anymore.

Surely such widespread change within an Office would qualify as 'major change' and invoke entitlement to the £600, unless that is included within what was agreed by your Unit/Area Reps? Naturally, RM will say not, so reject it at Unit level and keep rejecting until you have exhausted IR Framework phases ... and then adopt the old adage of 'do your job properly' and see how management cope with cut-offs etc moving forward to Christmas
