just to clarify my post, it has come to my attention that some offices are telling full time workers that due to tuesdays being a light day and people are therefore completing their delivery early then they will not qualify for the 1 hour as per the 39 hour week,celerycelery what you are saying re accumulation of hours until xmas pressure kicks in is illegal, what i am saying is that when xmas pressure kicks in is that all full time workers should insist on payment of that hour or a reduction of 1hour in the working week

It's bullshit,'if' they have gone through the appropriate revision then they get the 39hr week,end of.Light tuesdays have nothing to do with it.

Errm. Maybe I'm being too logical, but wouldn't the sensible way to get to a 39hr week be to get the CWU to negotiate revisions so that duty times have either
a) 5 attendances of 7hrs48mins per week or
b) 4 attendances of 8hrs and 1 of 7hrs
making it much harder for management to attempt to 'steal' your hour when you get a light day ?

Better still, as one other person has said... work your hours, and ONLY your hours, and they can't shaft you. Forget the days of job-and-finish.

on reflection because i can sense a degree of misunderstanding would it not be just the subject that the cwu send out to all reps clarification as to how the full time people are paid the 39hour week

We agree a start time on a monday and a finish time on a monday.
Then we move on to tuesday etc.
At the end of the week it should add up to 39hrs.
That's your duty set...it's up to them to fill those hours with work...it's up to us to work them.
That's how the 39hr week works...it's like the 40hr week...but an hour less.

Out of curiosity, are posties in post-revision depots getting the enhanced overtime rate after 39 hours, or do they have to do 1 hours o/t at the standard rate before "first ten hours" applies?

we are starting the 39hr week on 17th oct.....instead of starting at 6am is now going to be 12 minutes past 6 every morn. thats how were goin to lose the hr.
