Where do RM get their vans M.O.T.

Is it Arthur Daily MOT'S or do they simply pint them of the internet, like bogus degrees.


In Our office of the vans that are running,many have just recently had MOTS ,we cannot beleive these veichles would pass a mot in a normal garage.It appears any thing goes and it still passes!

I've no idea if this is true but if it is, and I've no reason to think the poster is not telling the truth, then Royal Mail should take extrem care.
If anyone of our drivers or a memeber of the public is hurt by one of our vehicles that has a major fault the insurance companies will have a field day when it comes to a personal injury claim.

That said I have for a long time wondered how the hell some of the vans at our office are still on the road.

The MOTs are done in RM VSWs by RM mechanics but they have to conform to the same regulations as anyone else, at least in theory. I have been to the workshop to collect vans from an MOT and refused to drive them because of dangerous faults in the past. Our VSW is an absolute disgrace.

I don't drive RM vehicles, so I don't have first hand knowledge of what condition they're in. But if they're coming back from MOT tests in a potentially dangerous condition, then you could report it to VOSA. The trouble with this is that some hard pressed mechcanic would problably lose his job and the manager who was overworking the poor sod would get off scot free,much better to do what PilthyPhil says,defect it and refuse to drive it

Appreciate that mechanics could possibly be overworked and bullied due to them having big cuts,but i'm sure mechanics who work on planes are in the same boat...

Theoretically you could drive down the road and get stopped by the Police and be nicked for anything the MOT covers, from a faulty lamp to a bald tyre.

Did I say that?? You said that the MOT (PSV) is only valid until you drive out of the garage............and I said that is why you do your van checks, any hidden fault that can't been seen can be blamed on us but faulty lights or bald tyres most certainly can be.
