lost rotating days off and walk!

hi, basically the office is in a part of revision, walk sorting has semi started and p&l has been implemented in the section i have worked in for 3 years - they are trialling this area 1st to highlight potential problems. My walk (not signed for just been put on it for 3 years as previous postie was attacked) has now been put into a park and loop walk with another and contains some of my old walk plus other areas, since this, i have been taken off this walk and daily i do random walks, but the main issue i have, is i was previously on a rotating days off 4 days a week for 6 hrs rotated ie mon-tue 1st week, tue/weds next week and so on, i have now according to the duty allocator lost this privilidge and will have whatever days off he see's fit. So pretty much every tuesday and whatever else they choose.


Have I got any rights to keep my rotating days off, i assume i should have 1 in 6 saturdays off?, my old walk is still their and has been filled by another part timer who has only been here for 4 months but will always complete and do overtime regardless if he finishes at 5 oclock and is a driver.

Yes, this happened to me some years ago,when they first started changing walks---I fought, and won to have my rotating days etc restored.

You are contracted to a 4 day week and can' be changed unless you agree or are given notice, you need to raise a grievance.

Slightly off topic, apologies if it seems like hijacking your thread.
If, after a few years at a DO as a reserve you are put on a walk that has a rest week and you take it over, along with the rest week, do you keep that rest week if you are later put on a different walk?

I still got a 4 day week, but with no rotational day off and the 2 days off are now being split. Me and the unon rep gunna face lurch the boss tomorrow if he shows his face, he's been covering area managers job as well, We are also still doing summer absorption 3 weeks on from the agreed end date, due to mail volumes (bollox).

I believe the "Random Day Off" scenario arises simply because the Manger can't organise his duty structure correctly. I started getting messed around and it got to the point I didn't even know my day off until the start of the week.

You've got to take it up with your Manger and simply put your point across, surely it's not too much to ask to get a rotating day off FFS! It simply makes it easy to cover duties at short notice in the typical "Fire Fighting" style of RM Management! Totally out of order.

No,your days off will be what the walk you are on is.You are a reserve,you go with what you are covering.

Yeah they can give you whatever day off they like, however they should try to give you a long weekend every 6 weeks or as close to that as they can and if they don't then take it further.
