If i return to the office early from my delivery ,can i be made to take out another delivery until my cut-off time ,and not get paid for it?
Additionally, Being a part timer ,doing a full time duty, I book the extra hour i get for delivery, if i return early, are management entitled to withold this extra hours payment?
It would appear that at our office, all managment want to do is antagonise the workforce, and get everyones back-up, quite how this increases productivity , or makes the business more efficient is beyond me, but, maybe thats not the point....

how would you not get paid for it? you are paid till your finish time
so you are being paid

Yes it can happens. What happens if a postman got injured on his duty ie dog bite, and the manager bring mail back and someone need to deliver it. Royal Mail allowed to ask you to do extra work as long it is in your duty hours.

In my DO, when I was on deliveries, it was called 'macho management'. We had bouts of it, before things eventually settled down again to a more reasonable level, except for a few years when the DO manager was a total bar steward, when we had macho management all the time. Fortunately, he eventually legged it to somewhere else (and anyone from Hemel Hempstead may spot a pun there which will enable them to work out to whom I'm referring).
More recently, we had a Mail Centre manager who was even more of a bar steward - even some of the other managers hated him. However, he too eventually buggered off, and was replaced with a more reasonable bloke.

Although your bosses are handling it all wrong in the respect part of the agreement (highlighted in blue) they are technically correct according to the Pay and Moderinsation agreement from 2007.

Both parties are committed to introducing new ways of working
throughout the business by April 2008. In order to achieve this there will
be a trial in four offices per AGM area covering the following:
- New arrangements to cover for one another and develop
sensible options to absorb absences, and increased workload,
where time exists within normal hours
- To ensure all paid work hours are utilised

I'll try and put it a bit easier as your obviously not the sharpest tool in the box here goes......

Your sitting at home watching the telly and all of a sudden water is squirting every where in the kitchen . Immediatally you call out the plumber, great bloke, sorts it in 30 mins and says i'll just get your bill kida.
He returns you look at the bill £45 callout 2 hours @£40 labour, total = £125 ....... Up comes your heckles "now hold on a minitue mate you've only been here half an hour", he replies "well i've realy rushed the job, if I worked at the proper speed and didn't take all the short cuts I have it would have took 2 hours"..... Do you 1. say Oh thats okay then, and pay him the full amount or 2. Pay him the half hour and advise him to go forth and multiply ?????

In our office it really depends on who you are. I have known certain individuals returning way before their finishing time and are allowed to go home ..no questions asked by managers. On the other hand there have been others who, if seen , have to stay til their finishing time doing all sorts of crap. My thoughts are everyone should be made to return to office and work their hours....this also means that if anyone goes over their time they should be paid and NOT questioned by doms .

Never applied to me - I was the slowest sod in the office, so I never got back early!

if i get done early i sit and have a chat with my partner in the van i never go back more then ten minutes early job and knock gas well gone.it sad but we should all just get on with it the good old days have past us now it is a job like any other now work your hours and no one can say anything tom you.

Hard work in RM is rewarded with more work.
Where as Lazy sods are rewarded with overtime payments (when RM decide to pay out).

My advise is 'don't work hard and finish on time
RM will do you no favours, they'll screw you over at every chance and steal money from you by any means (CS, OVERTIME, BONUS'S ETC).
