Holiday - Please help

Hi im going to start a 6 month contract soon , if they decide to keep me on when it finishes in april would it be possible to book 2 weeks off work in july? for a holiday. Im not sure how this will work.

you would have been better off booking it at interview

chances are the holiday pick may well have already been done in the office you are going to

ask as soon as you arrive is my advice

Royal Mail policy was that they would always honour pre-booked holidays when you start.
Don't know if that has changed or if it even applies to FTC's.

legally any holiday you have booked before they employ you should be honoured, i told them at interview and two weeks before asked them about it they new nothing, but still had to honour it.

not quite true, no such law covering that, just rm policy to honour them, no employer has to honour prebooked holidays

Work out when in July and book the holiday then tell Royal Mail (ideally before start) Might be too early as Your contract is 6 months.

Thing is NOW you have 2 people.... 1 with a pre-book holiday 1 without.... who are RM going to employ?

I wouldn't tell them at the interview....that information is meaningless to someone from HR/Recruitment.
I would inform the manager of the D.O. i was assigned to on my first day of employment.

I had 10 days prior to christmas booked !!!!! and let them know at all the stages of my interview for 12 month 25 hr contract and it was no problem at all.
I was told to make the most of it ..... as holiday at that time of year wouldn't be allowed in the future.
